ESSS FJZ RAL/CCLRC S/S-A YESS

The CCLRC proposal for a site in Oxfordshire was backed up by the ISIS facility, one of the world leading spallation sources, at CCLRC’s Appleton Rutherford Laboratory in Oxfordshire. The site fulfilled all the stringent geological, traffic-infrastructural, technical, and scientific criteria demanded by ESS Council.

The UK, through CCLRC, had been strongly engaged in the R&D phase of the ESS project for the past 10 years. The UK academic community has a long and highly successful track record in research using neutrons. The CCLRC’s role has been to enable science and discovery. Working in partnership, CCLRC has established strong track record in designing, operating and exploiting large-scale facilities.
